Young Friends reflect on ministry

Young Friends gather for Senior Conference

by Tara Craig 16th September 2016

Eighty-two Friends aged from fifteen to eighteen joined eleven adult volunteers for this year’s Senior Conference for young Friends in the southern half of England.

Representatives from almost forty Area Meetings met at Sibford School in Oxfordshire from 20-27 August to discuss ‘Living in Ministry’.

Activities included speaker sessions on the theme, demonstrations of different methods used in activism, and chatroom sessions led by the arrangements committee.

Hannah Rignell, one of the organisers, told the Friend that some of the most positive feedback concerned the time allocated to ‘base groups’, which was intended to help Friends bond. The joint Meeting for Worship with Junior Gathering, in Oxford Meeting House, was also popular.

The epistle, signed on behalf of Senior Conference by clerks Alice Ollerhead and Freya Harding, said: ‘Conference has once again proved itself to be an exceptional space in our lives, memories of which we will carry forward throughout the year.’
