Yearly Meeting will have three themes: celebration of our work; ministry of giving; and engaging with the political process. Lis Burch, nominated clerk of Britain Yearly Meeting, introduced herself to Meeting for Sufferings. Last year, Lis explained, there was a bold vision and now it’s about how we follow through on vision. Asking Sufferings if it was possible to achieve everything, she drew on Barack Obama’s ‘Yes we can’ mantra, wondering, to much amusement, if the Quaker equivalent was ‘I hope so’!
