Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM) has announced the date of the 2024 Yearly Meeting Gathering. The event will be held at Friends House, London and online from 26 to 30 July in 2024.

Fred Langridge, clerk of Yearly Meeting Agenda Committee, said: ‘We’re excited to explore different ways of holding Yearly Meeting. The way in which Friends engage with Yearly Meeting has changed over the last few years – no one in 2019 could have guessed that we would be holding blended worship and discernment in the way we did earlier this year. It’s important that Yearly Meeting remains open to those joining online, and so for the next few years it will continue to be held at Friends House where we are confident of our ability to manage the necessary technology.

‘Planning a slightly longer, summer Yearly Meeting allows us to spend more time together, particularly in social events. We realise that many Friends miss the longer gatherings. We also know that these are rather uncertain times financially, and that a whole week is not possible for many. We’ve looked at the other Quaker events happening in 2024, as well as the timings of school holidays in all three nations, and decided to experiment with this long weekend from 26 to 30 July 2024. We look forward to sharing more detailed plans for YM2024 as they develop.’
