World Quaker Day theme announced
‘Let Peace Be Among Us’
The theme for World Quaker Day (4 October) 2026 is to be ‘Let Peace Be Among Us’, announced Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC)last week. The theme stems from Hebrews 12:14: ‘Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy.’
FWCC is planning to celebrate with a ‘massive’ online Meeting for Worship on the day, ‘bringing together Friends across borders, time zones, and Quaker traditions with a shared focus on peace’.
‘Reflecting the risen Jesus’ greeting to his disciples, “Peace be with you”, we will pray for peace to be among us,’ said Ruby Cumming, FWCC communications manager. Sign-up details will be available soon, with FWCC hoping that Friends engage in a range of ways: ‘Share a message of peace in a sermon, all-age worship or children’s session’; ‘organise a Meeting for Learning about the Quaker testimony to peace’; ‘plan a silent vigil in a public space’; ‘sing tunes from our World Quaker Songbook’.
