Woodbrooke tutor launches game
A Quaker card game celebrating the power of prayer has been produced
A Woodbrooke associate tutor has produced a Quaker card game celebrating the power of prayer.
Jennifer Kavanagh’s ‘Prayer Game’ came out of a five-day retreat she led on ‘Unknowing’ held at the Glenthorne Quaker Centre in Cumbria.
She told the Friend that the idea came from ‘the need for something different’ for a workshop on prayer.
She said: ‘I had a lovely evening writing a list of all the words, bought some colourful card and made my own little pack. It has been played by a variety of ecumenical groups and at more informal gatherings, including by people who say they “don’t do prayer”.’ She added: ‘I’m delighted that both a Jewish and a Buddhist friend have said they will play it in their communities.’
The game, which is produced by Cartamundi, will be launched at a ‘playday’ at the Quaker Centre Bookshop at Friends House on 17 September. One pound from each sale goes to Woodbrooke.
