Women in Black
Friends in Inverness take part in a vigil
Friends from Inverness Local Meeting are taking part in a silent, women-only vigil on Saturday 30 April.
They are among the members of ‘Women in Black’ who meet in Inverness town centre on the last Saturday of each month to mourn all victims of war and conflict.
Women in Black is a global movement committed to peace with justice, and actively opposes war, injustice, militarism and all other forms of violence.
‘Wearing black in some cultures signifies mourning and feminist actions dressed in black convert traditional passive mourning for the dead of war into a powerful refusal of the logic of war,’ Inverness Friends Eleanor Fairclough and Sila Collins-Walden explained.
