Winchmore Hill interfaith art display to ‘celebrate diversity’
An exhibition, 'Reflections on the Sacred', will take place at Winchmore Hill Meeting House in April
Quakers at Winchmore Hill Meeting House have invited other local faith groups to share their ‘Reflections on the Sacred’ for an interfaith art exhibition aimed at bringing people together.
Mark Friend, co-organiser of the event with Quaker artist Anne McNeil Pulati, told the Friend: ‘It’s never been more important for different faiths to come together and see and respect each other’s ways of seeing, and to get good news stories out that people are willing to come together. It is an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other, share beliefs and celebrate diversity.’
So far Anglicans, Jews, Sikhs, Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Buddhists and Quakers have agreed to contribute art that is inspired by their faith for the event on 27 and 28 April.
The mayor of Enfield will open the exhibition at the Meeting house, which will also provide a ‘pop-up’ display where visitors can contribute and create art on the spot.
The exhibition follows a display last year in which North London Friends showed work that expressed their experience of Quakerism.
