White Feather Diaries go live
The white feather diaries website will go live on 4 August
The white feather diaries website will go live on 4 August at Yearly Meeting Gathering (YMG) 2014 in Bath.
Quaker writer and broadcaster Geoffrey Durham will read extracts from the diaries at the launch event.
The project sheds light on the hidden stories of those whose bravery saved lives and changed British legislation, leading to a wider recognition of the legitimacy of the right to refuse to kill. The diaries offer an insight into overlooked aspects of war: resistance to killing and the relief of suffering.
In addition to the 4 August launch of the website, the white Feather Diaries can now be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
The launch is timed to mark the centenary of the outbreak of world war one and Quakers at YMG will be reflecting on their forebears’ response.
