Leicester Quakers' day of outreach.

What moves you? Leicester Quakers demonstrate their faith

Leicester Quakers' day of outreach.

A visit from the lord mayor, a bouncy castle and balloons all encouraged people shopping around Leicester Meeting House to come in and meet Leicester Quakers on Saturday.  A beautiful mobile of goose feathers floated in the hall, with a question on the floor: ‘What moves you?’ After their free coffee, tea and cakes, visitors looked round the displays showing arts and crafts, green living, work with asylum seekers and refugees, Quaker Housing Association, Quaker history, and our peace group.  Nearly fifty Friends came, some passers-by, including the president of the Leicester Secular Society, and a number of children who enjoyed the bouncy castle. Our resident Friend and our treasurer’s wife enjoyed that too! Our aim was to demonstrate that we are an open and lively group, who wish to share our faith; a Quaker Quest series of meetings will follow this up starting the week following Quaker Week.
