The damage done by drones highlighted at Aberystwyth Friends Meeting House

The terrible damage done to both victims and pilots of drone strikes was raised at a public meeting held at Aberystwyth Friends Meeting House on Tuesday 15 October.

The meeting was addressed by Brian Terrell, a long-time peace activist from the USA (see photo), who recently served a six-month federal prison sentence for his participation in a peaceful protest against drone warfare. His protest was at the Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. He has travelled in Iraq and Afghanistan and witnessed the impact of drone strikes there.

Rachel Howell, of Aberystwyth Meeting, told the Friend that Brian talked at the public meeting ‘about the post-traumatic stress suffered by the pilots who witness intimate details of the lives of those they kill from thousands of miles away, and cannot justify the killing to themselves with the thought that their targets were threatening them’.
