An old technology used by ancient Egyptian and other early civilisations is making a comeback in the twenty-first century: hydro-power or water power. The use of water power dates back to Mesopotamia and ancient Egypt where irrigation has been used since the sixth millennium BC. Hydro-power was also used by the Qanat system in ancient Persia and the Turpan water system in ancient China.
