Wakefield Meeting House has been awarded a ‘Faith Stream of Sanctuary’ award in recognition of its City of Sanctuary work.

The decision follows an application and assessment process, and means the site is now ‘a Quaker Meeting House of Sanctuary’, said Friends. ‘This is testament to the work from many people over more than ten years to make the Meeting house a welcoming and inclusive place where people from all communities feel they are at home and safe,’ said the Quakers in Yorkshire newsletter.

The Friends are planning a celebration evening on 23 May and welcome attenders from across the Quaker community.
