Vibrancy in Meetings appointment made
Rachel Matthews appointed
Rachel Matthews has been appointed national coordinator for the Vibrancy in Meetings programme.
The pilot programme aims to help Meetings thrive by creating connections between Quakers across Britain. Locally-based workers, initially in selected areas, will build on support already provided by Britain Yearly Meeting, the Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre in Birmingham, and other Friends. The programme has been funded for three-and-a-half years from legacies. Rachel will be responsible for coordinating the programme and its local workers. Local worker staff roles will be advertised in mid-2016.
Rachel is a member of South Wales Area Meeting. She will be based in West Wales but will work nationally. Rachel has worked in faith-based and other charities, and in the public sector. Rachel trained as a dramatherapist, but has more recently worked as a manager of volunteers.
She described the pilot programme as ‘an opportunity to nurture the life, worship and witness of Quakers in the UK’.
