Universities divest from fossil fuel companies
Several universities have pledged to divest from fossil fuels
Several more British universities have announced that they will divest from investments in fossil fuels.
Cardiff will divest its entire endowment from the fossil fuel industry over the next three years. This comes, as in the case of other universities, after a long running student campaign.
The university currently invests £10 million in four companies: Royal Dutch Shell, BP, Rio Tinto and BHP Billiton.
Bristol has pledged to completely divest its investments in fossil fuel companies by March 2020.
Durham also announced its decision to divest on 14 March. More than sixty British universities have now divested or made the decision to divest.
