Uniting in the word at Glenthorne
Friends will gather for the Quakers Uniting in Publications annual conference
This year’s Quakers Uniting in Publications (QUIP) annual conference will consider ‘Writing at the Edge’ and brings together Friends from Europe and America over the weekend of 26-29 April at Glenthorne, Grasmere, in Cumbria.
The speakers will include Geoffrey Durham, who will talk about what it might mean to be ‘at the edge’, and the poet Peter Daniels, who will discuss and read his translations from the Russian.
A panel of European editors explores the edge of language and translation and another panel, featuring Vanessa Julye, Craig Barnett and Philip Austin, digs into writing at the social and political edge.
Workshops include: ‘The Edge of History’ with Gil Skidmore; ‘The Edge of Old and New Forms of Publication’ with Joe Jones, publications manager of Britain Yearly Meeting; the ‘Business and Practice of Producing a Quaker Magazine Today’ with Gabe Ehri of Friends Journal; and ‘The Edge of Fiction’ with novelist Stephen Cox.
