At the end of February about one hundred delegates with experience across the realm of criminal justice met at the beautiful Ammerdown Centre, nestled in the tranquillity of the Somerset countryside. As usual, the opportunity to network and compare notes with other professionals and nonprofessionals was a significant benefit of attending the Quakers in Criminal Justice annual conference.

The formal programme gave us a mixed diet of talks and workshops and several opportunities to meet in smaller groups to tease out particular problems or concerns. Our opening session was a discussion between Nick McGeorge (forensic psychologist and Quaker representative on the UN Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Commission) and John Moore (lecturer and researcher in criminology at the University of the West of England).
