Restorative justice is gaining grassroots support from many local authorities, regardless of the total lack of interest from national government, a conference has heard.  At the Restorative Justice Consortium’s summer conference, focusing this time on ‘Becoming a Restorative County/Local Authority’, participants were told: ‘Together we can make a difference’. Restorative justice is an alternative to standard criminal justice processes that brings offenders and victims together to talk about what has happened, and involves offenders in putting right the harm.
