War Resisters’ International’s nonviolence programme is at risk of closure

by Tara Craig 31st October 2014

War Resisters’ International (WRI)’s nonviolence programme is at risk of closure due to a funding shortfall.

The programme has been training nonviolent movements internationally for a decade. In that time it has developed both know-how and resources, including its Handbook for Nonviolent Campaigns.

Quaker Hannah Brock is WRI’s Right to Refuse to Kill programme worker who has done extensive work on conscientious objection in the world today. She explained to the Friend: ‘We often work with regional groups and facilitate training for trainers; so experience is always shared and impacts amplified…

‘At the moment, we’re facing a crisis of funding, and are making a concerted effort to make sure we can keep supporting grassroots movements around the world.’
