Thought for the Week: Bramley

'Bramley' by Eleanor Nesbitt

‘An apple tree,’ you said.

‘Use it to buy an apple tree.’

New leaves: I think of you.

Spring buds: I thank you for your gift.

First fallings: your youness strikes again.

Apple and blackberry pie: I wish you very well.

Bare boughs evoke your honesty –

Doubting, rebellious,

Insightful and wise –

A late-life Quaker.

My Bramley is your chantry.
