Further news of the continuing conflict in Gaza brought into sharp focus the work of the Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI). It was one of the ‘Journeys’ available to Friends at Yearly Meeting Gathering.

Of all the quiet forms of engagement in which Friends are involved, this must be one of the most sensitive. It is a measure of the respect in which this programme is held that on Tuesday Friends were able to hear from a panel of people representing all players in this tragic conflict. The event brought together a Palestinian diplomat, a former British ambassador, a board member of an international peace movement, and (by Skype) the chaplain to the Israeli army.
