The Quaker way

Harvey Gillman reflects on what it is to be a Quaker

A turning within myself and outwards towards others to encounter the divine;

a form of communal worship and transacting business that enables both the individual and the group to listen directly to the divine in oneself and in each other without hierarchy, liturgy or creed;

the challenge to see all time and space as sacred;

a turning outwards to the world to witness/testify to this encounter in word, deed, and even in silence, expressed, among other things, in the pursuit of peace, justice and respect for the planet.
