The nature of the church

The New Foundation Fellowship held a special interest group on Saturday

by Caroline Humphries 31st May 2013

A small group of Friends gathered on Saturday evening to explore how the Gospel message preached by George Fox and the early Friends is still relevant to us today.  The New Foundation Fellowship (NFF) aims to share the message that Jesus is present in the world and that by developing a close relationship with Christ we can be taught by him. NFF members talked of how personal transformation can turn us into living witnesses. Their message echoed the Swarthmore Lecture, which focused on personal transformation through understanding of God’s unconditional love.

During the discussion afterwards some Friends gently emphasised the central role of Christ in their own lives and commended the use of a Bible quote in the opening minute that day. Friends also celebrated the contribution of nontheist Friends to the Society in helping to bring clarity and richness to the debate.
