Two fifteen-year-old London Friends have launched a teenage Quaker group in a bid to make Meetings less ‘isolating’ for younger attenders.

Daniel Marrs-Gant, from Tottenham Meeting, and Imi Hills, from Reigate Meeting, started the monthly group so they could have regular gatherings. The already established London Link Group for thirteen- to eighteen-year-olds, which many of the members attend, meets roughly every three months.

Daniel Marrs-Gant told the Friend: ‘We found that there were many teenagers who wanted to go to their Local Meetings but felt isolated in being the only young person, so chose not to go.’

Imi Hills added: ‘We wanted young Quakers to not have to miss out, and give them a chance to connect with the wider Quaker community.’

Michael Wood, clerk of the London Link Group; Lucy Sam, children and young people’s officer at Quaker Life; and the clerks at Westminster Meeting helped set up the group, which meets monthly on Sundays between 1.30pm and 4pm at Westminster Meeting House. The November one had sixteen attenders.
