A tapestry exhibition on a religious subject that may appeal to Friends who are familiar with the Quaker Tapestry will be on display at selected venues in England.

Entitled ‘Threads through Revelation’, it has been created by Jacqui Parkinson and is a visual response to the Book of Revelation.

The exhibition can been seen at Ripon Cathedral from 27 February-13 April and will then be at Southwell Minster from May, St Edmundsbury Cathedral in the summer, and Guildford Cathedral in the autumn.

Jacqui Parkinson says ‘Threads through Revelation’ is: ‘Exciting – unsettling – amazing – disturbing – but always intriguing.’

The tapestry compares the complexity and fascination of Revelation to looking through a kaleidoscope.

Michael Wright is a Friend who has seen the exhibition in Salisbury. He said that the artist ‘takes the text seriously, indeed often literally, seeing in it revelations from God about the divine plan for humankind. Many Friends will not share that take, but in the Quaker way, look behind the words for the Spirit from which they came.’
