Summer thoughts

As I lay here dozing on the lawn,
I can hear the sound of children,
Their joyful shrieks of delight at scoring a goal,
And the glee in their laughter as they begin to win the game.
The sound of the trees gently swaying in the breeze,
The sound of the blackbird giving its alarm call as a cat strolls by its nest,
The birds chirping in the trees,
The smell of a neighbour’s barbeque just lit for the night’s tea.
The busy road noise and the plane in the sky
Are the sounds of summer that surrounds my world.
