Successful hearing for Brighton Meeting
Concerns met over noise on Sunday mornings.
Brighton Meeting has had its concerns met regarding a license for a restaurant next door to its Meeting house.
Penny Cloutte and resident Friend Terry Byrne attended a hearing with the restaurant chain Wolfox on plans to install a new design shop and cafe.
Penny Cloutte told the Friend: ‘On the whole we were cautiously pleased with the result of the hearing. We welcome their willingness to meet us and talk. They have basically agreed that they won’t be serving food or playing music before twelve on Sundays, so that was very important and met our concerns.
‘One of the conditions was that we should also have the phone number of the restaurant manager so if there is an issue of noise they can talk about it. One of the issues is where they put the kitchen. We were worried about the extractor fan spewing smells into our building and garden, but they said they’re going to put the kitchen in the basement and have a different system.’
