Quaker school librarian on the honour list for the SLA School Librarian of the Year award
Leighton Park School librarian Chris Routh is on the honour list for the 2015 SLA (School Library Association) School Librarian of the Year award.
Chris has worked at the Quaker school, in Reading, Berkshire, since 2003. Among the work that saw her make the SLA honour list was a 2014 project that focused on Quakers in the first world war.
‘A Matter of Conscience’ looked at the war-time experiences of eight people with connections to Leighton Park, culminating in an entire day during which the whole school put lessons to one side to learn and think about life during the first world war. This summer Chris created a photographic record of the project.
She hopes to continue to support the development of teaching, learning and literacy across the curriculum, and would like to help establish a storytelling area and pop-up library in the school’s grounds.
