Strengthening Area Meetings

Ian Kirk-Smith reports on a discussion held at Meeting for Sufferings

The role and ‘right holding’ of Area Meetings has been a concern for some time. The afternoon session of Meeting for Sufferings (MfS), on Saturday 1 October, was devoted to this subject.  Paul Parker, recording clerk, opened the session with a short and clear presentation. He reminded Friends of the historic role of Area Meetings. He said that they had always been a way for Friends to come together, to worship, to do business and to seek the will of God in putting faith into action in a testing world.
