Stratford trial

Caroline Humphries was at Stratford Magistrates’ Court when five peace activists received a ‘not guilty’ verdict for their protest at a London arms fair

Gasps of relief and ripples of joy were felt amongst supporters in the public gallery of court room three at lunchtime on 4 February 2014 at Stratford Magistrates’ Court, London, when arms trade protesters Symon Hill, Chloe Skinner, Chris Wood, James Clayton and Dan Woodhouse were pronounced ‘not guilty’ of aggravated trespass.  The five Christians, who included two with Quaker links and a trainee Methodist minister, blocked the main entrance to the London Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEi) arms exhibition for nearly an hour on 10 September 2013. Many of the expected 30,000 attendees were re-routed via other entrances while trains backed up at Custom House DLR station.
