Carbon footprint reduction was top of the agenda for a recent weekend course at Stocksfield Meeting House in Northumberland.

The Footpaths Facilitators course was designed to give participants the skills needed to manage group interactions around carbon footprint reduction. They would then take this learning back to their own communities. Participants came from as far afield as Wales and Scotland. Not all were Friends.

Ruth Thompson of Stocksfield Meeting took part in the course. She described it as ‘very intense’ and ‘well out of’ her comfort zone. Among the topics covered were how to lead practical sessions and how to form opinions in a nonjudgmental way, she told the Friend.

A Quaker Peace & Social Witness (QPSW) new economy and sustainability grant funded the weekend. The course was a Transition Leicester initiative and found its way to Stocksfield Meeting via Yearly Meeting Gathering 2014 in Bath.
