Statement issued on attack

Paul Parker made a statement on behalf of Friends following the Westminster attack

Paul Parker, recording clerk of Britain Yearly Meeting, has made a statement on behalf of Quakers following the violent events at Westminster on 22 March.

The statement says: ‘As Quakers throughout Britain, our thoughts are with all those touched by today’s violent events in Westminster. For Quakers all human life is precious, we deplore all killing. Our prayers are with the injured, their families, and all those involved in this tragic incident.’

Paul joined other faith leaders from across the religious spectrum in offering prayers for all those affected.

Harun Khan, general secretary of the Muslim Council of Britain, said: ‘This attack was cowardly and depraved. There is no justification for this act whatsoever. The best response to this outrage is to make sure we come together in solidarity and not allow the terrorists to divide us… I hope my Muslim brothers and sisters will reach out to fellow Londoners and Britons in solidarity to demonstrate that such hatred will not defeat our way of life.’
