Something to give: Harry Albright remembers David Firth former editor of the Friend

‘You do not need to be an expert, or a bishop, or a journalist, to write in the Friend, but its readers do expect you to speak directly of what you have seen.’

I was very sad to learn of the death of David Firth, one of my predecessors at the Friend.

David was always very supportive of me as a young editor. He lived not far from Friends House and would often visit. He was always very kind, and he was aware of how the job had changed since his time, as Britain Yearly Meeting became more diverse in matters of theology (or lack thereof!). He appreciated the challenge for his successors in trying to balance the various views in a (forlorn) attempt to please everyone!
