Silent witness at St Paul’s

A hundred Quakers came from far and wide to attend a Meeting for Worship on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral on Sunday.  The first part of the worship was accompanied by the deafening noise of the huge bells of St Paul’s. However, neither these sounds nor those of buses and cars and the general chatter of the many protesters in front of the cathedral affected the power of the experience for Friends present.

Nigel Norie, from north London, said: ‘The spirituality of protest was a tangible experience, as the positive energy released from the strong loving intention of a Quaker Meeting for Worship was released to the world.’

‘This was a creative and vital act of spiritual and political solidarity with those who are showing us that we do have a voice that can be heard loud and clear, if we only join together and unite against the monetary and moral crimes that are being carried out under our noses, with impunity and disdain.’
