Settling
Pete Stuart's poem, 'Settling'
Not quite silence
but on the other hand
the ambient sounds diminish –
start to freeze and
I edge from rim
towards the centre –
land gently, nose round
my terrors.
Can’t say what
the light will reveal
but meanwhile seize this chance
to lift away some scree.
Blood seems to thicken. Pulse so slow
and I let go.
