My vision for the garden was formed by the first two lines of a poem by Waldo Williams in the current Quaker faith & practice 21.33:

Where did the sea of light roll from
Onto Flower Meadow Field and Flower Field?

It seems to me that this quote encapsulates the essence of the garden. The garden may be read at several levels but symbolism was an important element in my thinking. The olives were chosen, for example, as a symbol for peace.
