Friends from Kendal and Sedbergh Area Meeting are gearing up for their ‘Ride for Equality and the Common Good’, starting on 22 July.

Around sixteen Friends will cycle from Swarthmoor Hall through villages Yealand and Bentham, and towns Settle, Skipton, Keighley, Bakewell, Loughborough, Milton Keynes and Leighton Buzzard. The ride will also cover Bradford, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Derby, Leicester, Northampton and Watford.

The ride will deliver a declaration on the welfare state to 10 Downing Street on 3 August. Hilary Southall, from Kendal Meeting, told the Friend: ‘The idea was started by people who in their jobs came into contact with those badly affected by the “cuts”.’
