Revision Committee gets creative

by Rebecca Hardy 7th August 2020

The Book of Discipline Revision Committee has launched a creative project Open to New Light based on Quaker artistic contributions in order to inform their work.

Mary Woodword, the co-convenor of the Engaging with Friends sub-group, from the committee, told the Friend that the project was devised to replace one planned for this month’s postponed Yearly Meeting Gathering. The revision committee had planned to invite Friends to draw, paint or write something for inclusion in a hard copy book, Our Book – Bath 2020. The book will now be published electronically instead.

Co-convenors Mary Woodward and Jessica Hubbard-Bailey said they are looking for Quaker contributions, which could be ‘sharing passages from Quaker faith & practice using words, pictures, and/or videos; or telling us what you’d like to see in the next book by completing this sentence: “My own Quaker faith & practice would…” We hope that this project will not only inform our continuing work of revision, but also encourage Friends to engage in deep, rich, Spirit-filled conversations among themselves’.

Contributions can be uploaded to the website www.padlet.com/bdrc/opentonewlight or sent directly to the revision committee at Friends House in London. The Friend is also looking for artistic contributions.
