Britain Yearly Meeting's website has been relaunched

by Tara Craig 4th September 2015

The first pages of Britain Yearly Meeting’s new website went live on 1 September.

New pages will be added regularly up until Christmas, although the existing site will remain live, as pages are moved across. Jane Dawson, advocacy and public relations team leader for Britain Yearly Meeting, explained to the Friend that there are 7,500 pages on the original quaker.org.uk website. It will take time to repurpose this content for the new website, which will have the same URL.

Jane added that the team began thinking about the audiences for the new site some eighteen months ago, and the project has taken nine months.

‘The new site is designed to be easy to use on mobile devices, easy to adapt and with a range of technical facilities we will switch on over the coming months’, she said.

The first pages to go live on the site are designed for people wanting to find out about Quakers and where Local Meetings are held. Local Meetings, committee members and Quaker volunteers have been involved with shaping and testing the site for usability.
