The Friends Historical Society (FHS) research grants have been made available to more people than ever before.  The awards, which are up to £500 each, will be open for the first time to non-academic researchers. A maximum of four grants will be made in 2014.

‘We want to make the grants more inclusive,’ said Rosalind Johnson of the FHS. ‘The decision was made with a view to attracting interest from non-academics who are passionate about Quaker history. The research could be into any period and subject.’

The FHS research grants are offered to help historians with their expenses in researching Quaker history, or in attending and delivering a paper at a conference or similar event. Grants may also be used for publication costs.

Rosalind explained: ‘Friends who are interested in applying for a grant can find out more by visiting our website at www.f-h-s.org.uk.’

The deadline for applications is 31 May 2014.
