‘Record turnout’ at QSA YM session
‘It was wonderful to see lots of familiar, friendly faces, and many new ones too...’
Quaker Social Action (QSA) has said it received ‘a record turnout’ at the charity’s special interest meeting in the run-up to this year’s Yearly Meeting (YM).
‘Together we explored how addressing poverty is a cornerstone of peacemaking – and how both call on us to build lasting relationships that are rooted in trust and dignity,’ said the charity in its June newsletter.
Staff also had a stall at YM’s Groups Fair at Friends House on 24 May. ‘It was wonderful to see lots of familiar, friendly faces, and many new ones too,’ said QSA.
Describing QSA’s ‘brilliant’ supporters as being ‘a fountain of inspiration and friendship’, the newsletter said staff had ‘a joyful time meeting many of you’ at YM and thanked everybody who connected with the staff. ‘We could not do what we do without you, our amazing community from all backgrounds.’
The charity also said it raised over £32,000 for practical action against poverty in its spring fundraising apeal. It will provide ‘life-changing health, wellbeing and connection for hundreds of people facing poverty and homelessness’, said QSA.
