Friends gathered at a meeting of the Quaker group Roots of Resistance to plan action against the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) arms fair in September.

The meeting was held at the Peace Hub in Birmingham on 23 March.

A spokesperson from Roots of Resistance told the Friend: ‘We’re inviting Quakers to join us for Meeting for Worship outside the ExCeL Centre in London, on 3 September, alongside other faith groups to resist the setup of the fair. As part of this we are also encouraging Friends to make “mini-banners” which can be joined together to form a tapestry illustrating the impact of the arms trade and our resistance to it – we published details of these plans in our action guide.’

A spokesperson at the Peace Hub said that there had been ‘lots of exciting ideas and planning’.
