Friends from the north and south of Ireland took part in a rally in support of same-sex marriage held in the centre of Belfast on Saturday 13 June.

The rally was organised by The Rainbow Project, Amnesty International and the Irish Congress of Trade Unions. An estimated 20,000 people took part in the event, which called for the legislation of marriage for same-sex couples in Northern Ireland.

The rally was organised in the wake of the referendum decision in the Republic of Ireland to legalise same-sex marriage.

The Northern Ireland Assembly has debated the issue of same-sex marriage four times and each time it has been rejected.
