Friends joined other peace campaigners at the memorial to women of the second world war in Whitehall at 11am on 11 November.

‘Grandmothers for Peace had made a beautiful garland, which was draped around the memorial,’ Marigold Bentley of Quaker Peace & Social Witness told the Friend. ‘The garland was decorated with crocheted handmade red and white poppies. At the centre of them read the words “war no more”.’

A banner was held alongside the women’s memorial whilst the Church of England service took place at the Cenotaph.
