Quaker starts GreenSpirit group in local Meeting house and writes article on shared values

A member of Malton Meeting wrote a magazine article last month about the affinity between Quakerism and the GreenSpirit community.

Writing in GreenSpirit magazine, the Quaker of twenty years describes how he discovered the eco-spiritual charity GreenSpirit twelve years ago at a ‘progressive Christian intentional community’.

He said: ‘When I discovered that it was an organisation seeking to bring together passion for our Earth, spirituality and holistic science, and to celebrate our place within the unfolding Universe Story, I was hooked!’

The North Yorkshire Quaker goes on to outline three Quakers who he feels particularly demonstrate these shared values: the abolitionist John Woolman; the scientist and botanist John Fothergill; and the astrophysicist Jocelyn Bell Burnell.

Chris Newsam started a GreenSpirit group in his local Meeting house in North Yorkshire two years ago with Janice Every.
