Quaker young people living adventurously
40 young Quakers set sail
Tuesday 14 April marked the start of the Quaker Tall Ship event for young people aged 14 to 17 from across Britain Yearly Meeting. This event, planned over the last eighteen months, sees forty young people, seven adult volunteers and one member of the children and young people staff become the crew of the Tall Ship Stavros S Niarchos.
Monday 13 April saw the crew being trained up so that they know how to sail a square rigger. Then they set sail from Liverpool for the Irish Sea. Each day time will be spent in worship as well as exploring Quakerism and its early links to sailing. During the event, that lasts until Saturday 19 April, the young people will be writing a blog.
