Quaker YA writer gives talk
Sara Barnard, author of 'Beautiful Broken Things', gave a talk at the Quaker Centre in Friends House during Quaker Week
The Quaker Young Adult (YA) writer Sara Barnard gave a talk at the Quaker Centre this week as part of Quaker Week celebrations.
The author, who was shortlisted for the YA Book Prize 2017 for her novel Beautiful Broken Things, spoke on 2 October about the influence Quakerism has had on her writing. She has said previously that the book is about ‘how broken things are beautiful if you shine the right light on them’.
The author of Goodbye, Perfect, published in February 2018 by Pan Macmillan, was an attender at Winchmore Hill Children’s Meeting.
Quaker author Sally Nicholls was shortlisted for the 2018 YA Book Prize for her novel Things A Bright Girl Can Do.
