Quaker students face hurricane aftermath
Students at a Quaker school in Belize have been affected by a recent hurricane
Three-quarters of the students at Belize Friends School are absent from class due to the damage Hurricane Earl caused to their homes last month.
School principal Candi Young told the Friend: ‘There are twenty-one children registered to attend our school. Only fifteen students are coming due to the rest having had major damage to their homes. Some are in shelters until they can be relocated elsewhere.’
Candi added that although Belize suffered significant destruction, most of the damage within the school itself took the form of destroyed books and teaching materials.
