Quaker Rainbow will mark its fiftieth anniversary in September. The group started as the Friends Homosexual Fellowship (FHF), which came into being at Woodbrooke in 1973.

Rob Francis, from Quaker Rainbow, told the Friend: ‘We are gathering personal stories along with material from the Friends House archive for us to use in our September newsletter and in writing a piece for the Friend.’

To celebrate the anniversary, Friends are being asked to bring cakes to share after Meeting for Worship on 10 September. ‘We would love Friends to send us photos of these local celebrations for use in our newsletter and on our website,’ said Rob Francis.

Lisa McQuillan, from Friends House Library,s shared some photos of items of interest. She said: ‘The archives of FHF (not yet open for public research) hold minutes from 1973 throughout the 50 year period, charting some of the progress and activities of the organisation. There are also correspondence files showing debate about issues and also gratitude for the support the network provided. Publications of the organisation are open for research and are listed on the online Library catalogue.’
