A Friend from Clun Valley Meeting and member of Quaker Concern for Animals (QCA) has written an illustrated book that touches on the deep human-animal bond that can be accessed through stillness.

Trish Munn told the Friend that The Listless Piglet, which is suitable for adults and children, came from a dream in which she heard the words ‘the listless piglet and the vet’. She said: ‘I knew what the dream was saying so I tried to write it. It’s about stillness, friendship, grief and the interconnectedness between animals and humans. I just want the barriers between species to be blurred so everything is respected. The relationship between the piglet and the vet is one of deep respect and what can happen if one is able to be silent, still and patient enough.’

QCA helped with the crowdfunding for self-publishing 100 copies, to be priced at £4.99. Trish Munn said she is planning to take the book to bookshops in the hope they will stock it. Any revenue will go to the charity Compassion in World Farming.
