Quaker Meeting in new television crime thriller

Quaker Meeting features in new eight-part thriller

Several scenes in the new eight-part ITV/Netflix conspiracy thriller Paranoid have been filmed in Frandley Meeting House in Cheshire.

Gill Alcock, of Frandley Meeting, said: ‘We had three separate filming days at Frandley Quaker Meeting and some of us are there as extras in the Meetings for Worship.

‘One of the main characters, played by Lesley Sharp, attends Quaker Meetings and she invites one of the main investigating police officers, played by Robert Glenister, to come too. We think they will be really short scenes – just a few seconds – but will be there in more than one episode.’

Paranoid, which began on Thursday this week at 9pm, was shot mostly in Cheshire and the production also used the exterior of Sale Meeting House as the police station in the series.

Gill Adcock added: ‘Here at Frandley we are wondering whether this is the first time that a Quaker Meeting for Worship will be featured in a major crime thriller? It’s only a small part of the overall story, but as Paranoid will be broadcast internationally we hope this will be a good contribution from us to Quaker Week this year!’
